Access Central

Vascular Care and Management

When patients undergo dialysis, sometimes the “access” (fistula or graft) can become narrow or blocked.  We typically repair the access using clot-dissolving medicines or procedures such as angioplasty and stent placement.

In order to maximize the vascular care and management of patient dialysis access, we created a service called Access Central. All information about a patient’s dialysis access is kept in a central location and available for our nephrologists to quickly review at any time.

Our Access Coordinator also tracks each dialysis patient’s monthly access flows in order to proactively identify any downward trends that would indicate a potential problem.

Access Central enables us to increase the longevity of our patients’ dialysis access as well as anticipate any potential issues that may arise and quickly take appropriate action.
